Standards and Methodologies Expert

As the Standards & Methodology Manager you are in charge of managing the interface between Carbonfuture as a service provide for tracking of Carbon Removals, the Standard Carbon Standards International (CSI) and our scientific advisor Ithaka Institute. You facilitate the development of new accounting methodologies for different technologies of CO2 removal and care for the documentation of guidelines and procedures, which will be then adopted by CSI. Furthermore, you engage with other Standards like the Verra/ VCS and the Gold Standard on the topics of CO2 removal, digital Measuring and Reporting and Verification (MRV).

**Your role & responsibilities**:
As the Standards & Methodology Manager you are in charge of managing the interface between Carbonfuture as a service provide for tracking of Carbon Removals, the Standard Carbon Standards International (CSI) and our scientific advisor Ithaka Institute. You facilitate the development of new accounting methodologies for different technologies of CO2 removal and care for the documentation of guidelines and procedures, which will be then adopted by CSI. Furthermore, you engage with other Standards like the Verra/ VCS and the Gold Standard on the topics of CO2 removal, digital Measuring and Reporting and Verification (MRV).

**What is in store for you**:

- Lead the development of a disruptive standard for carbon credits, which ensures trustful auditing procedures and lean issuance processes at the same time. The standard itself is hosted by an external third party (CSI).
- Structure, discuss and develop procedures and governance documents for this new standard.
- Drive the development of methodologies for emerging carbon removal technologies like enhanced weathering, deep ocean sequestration and beyond.
- Liaise with associations like the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance ICROA, the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) and with other Standards like the Gold Standard and Verra/ VCS.
- Cultivate communication with large corporates, for which the policy side of carbon removals is important.
- Represent Carbonfuture at conferences, associations, and lobby groups.
- Grow with a fast-growing startup in a fascinating field, which will be of key relevance for our future. ‍

**What you bring**:

- 5+ years professional experience in environmental management, life cycle assessment, or related fields.
- You are a structured thinker who is keen to understand and evaluate scientific findings.
- You enjoy writing clear guidance documents that get to the heart of things in a condensed way.
- Your know-how or learning instincts stretches from greenhouse gas accounting, standards for CO2 certificates like VCS, the Gold Standard, the Clean Development Mechanism, or Swiss Compensation projects to the carbon markets.
- You have excellent communication skills and command of German and English, other language skills are a plus.
- You hold a university degree or equivalent qualification.
- You are open to occasional travel. ‍
