The Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS, based in Sankt Augustin near Bonn, is one of the leading scientific institutes in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Big Data in Germany and Europe. With its approximately 360 employees, the institute supports companies in optimizing products, services, processes and structures as well as in developing new digital business models. In this way, Fraunhofer IAIS is shaping the digital transformation of our working and living environments. In the Media Engineering department, we work on a wide range of topics. From automated report generation, review and analysis using machine learning and text mining and AI-based industrial image processing to quantum machine learning and the explainability and interpretability of neural networks. We are currently staffing a team of researchers and computer science students to work on cutting-edge technologies to bring machine learning research into production. We are looking for a master student with a sound understanding of machine learning and a passion for software engineering. **What you will do** - Support with transforming our machine learning research into production-level prototypes jointly with our customers - Collaboration on frontend and backend development - Support with development of tools for machine learning research **What you bring to the table** - Excellent master student at a German university in the area of Computer Science or a comparable field of study - Theoretical understanding of Deep Learning and ideally you have already gained some experience with Pytorch - Ideally, you already gained some hands-on experience with software engineering related to frontend (e.g, javascript, react) and backend development (e.g., python, flask, django), as well as, learned the ins and outs of well-designed software architectures within your studies or internships. - A passion for detail and clean code - High level of self-motivation, independence, and commitment **What you can expect** - A friendly and supportive team of researchers, engineers and students working together on cutting-edge technologies - The opportunity to contribute your own ideas - Cooperation at eye level - Flexible working hours - we know that your studies come first - A mixture of mobile work and on-site work - depending on the current "situation" With its focus on developing key technologies that are vital for the future and enabling the commercial utilization of this work by business and industry, Fraunhofer plays a central role in the innovation process.
