Role Dimensions

The Health and Safety Compliance Specialist for Germany provides assurance that technical regulations, legal requirements and standards are adhered to both in new projects and site operations. They will work with a third party service provider to maintain and develop the legal register/compliance tool for the H&S offshore functions of Germany.

They will ensure audits are programmed and completed to internal and ISO standards and will also work closely with the other Health and Safety Compliance Specialists in the UK and USA.

The Health and Safety Compliance Specialist requires expert knowledge of German legislative requirements in the offshore wind industry and must have a good understanding of ISO and European harmonized standards and directives for machinery, work equipment and employee Occupational Health & Safety.

The Health and Safety Compliance Specialist will support projects within their jurisdiction to demonstrate compliance with Business SMS directives including ERP, Incident and Accident investigation requirements, Development of accident and incident statistics, leasson learnt, etc.

Responsible for incident or accident investigations that occur on German offshore wind farms and act as Accident/Incident Investigation Team Lead.

Accountability Statements

The job holder will be required to:

- Assist in the maintenace of the Iberdrola Offshore Safety Management System to satisfy ISO 45001
- Contribute to the development of H&S Management System Manual
- Support projects to ensure compliance with statutory and national legislation
- Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines as well as legal obligations
- Investigate causes of safety problems and propose solutions
- Ensure that contractors are complying with the Iberdrola Minimum Health & Safety requirements
- Identify shortfalls and proposes preventive measures, promote and implement improvement programs
- Plan, deliver and assess project audits, ensuring correct follow up so all non-conformances are tracked and solved.
- Review Risk Assessments
- Report deficiencies in H&S immediately to Line Manager
- Participate actively in Lessons Learnt Workshops
- Follow up on LL items and implement improvement campaigns
- Create procedural documents
- Participate in supplier audits

Skills & Knowledge
- Must have an eye for detail and ‘very accurate work approach’
- Previous experience in an structural/civil/mechanical engineering work context
- Has sound knowledge of European Directives / Harmonized Standards (A,B,C)
- Advanced knowledge in producing and driving procedural documents
- Hold presentations using various technologies
- Fluent in German. English required. Spanish or French is a plus
- Knowledge of standards, such as ‘International Electro technical Commission’ (IEC), ‘German Standards’ (DIN), ‘Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) VEFK requirements etc.
- Autonomy and ability to make and manage decisions on their own
- Skilled in Microsoft Office on advanced level
- Has engineering and technology knowledge
- Basic understanding of Electricity generation networks and equipment.
- Understanding of offshore logistics and construction methodology would be desirable
- Understand and work in-line with up-to-date database technology
- Ability to lead and coordinate meetings with multiple stakeholders whilst generating meeting minutes, developing actions and setting clear deadlines.
