Head of Sustainability

As the Head of Sustainability, your mission is to enable Zalando to achieve its sustainability vision to be a "net positive platform for people and the planet" by defining what sustainability means for Zalando and setting the direction and strategic focus areas across the group. The Central Sustainability team relies on dispersed teams throughout Zalando that own commitments and implementation of initiatives derived from the strategy. This role will work on both levels, strategic and collaborative, to ensure progress and act as the steward of governance. You lead a team of experts and practitioners in the fields of Environment, Circularity, and Human Rights. You are a recognized expert guiding internal stakeholders with insight and collaboration, and you represent Zalando's work in the field externally. **INCLUSIVE BY DESIGN**: **WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)**: - Alongside executive business owners, you'll define Zalando's sustainability strategy that aligns with the company-level vision and ambition - You'll lead and grow the talents in central Sustainability Centre of Excellence team, with experts from multiple disciplines - You'll cultivate relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders throughout Zalando to ensure sustainability is prioritized within teams owning the delivery of sustainability commitments - You'll sponsor and guide select central projects or initiatives, such as initiatives in line with our science-based targets - You'll provide and enable thought leadership for Zalando's environmental sustainability work, e.g. via collaboration with and participation in industry initiatives and bringing the industry knowledge into our environmental strategy - You'll monitor emerging global trends, innovation and regulation directions - You'll present to and inform C-level stakeholders on topics related to your areas of responsibility and expertise **WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF**: - You have 10+ years experience including setting business or sustainability strategy, with at least 5 years leading corporate sustainability, environment, circularity or a related field - You can tell us about multiple (>5) strategic projects you've led or steered within a large organization, for example setting science based targets, supply chain decarbonization, circular business launches, and human rights due diligence - You are a strategic thinker who is comfortable in fast-paced environments and can provide well thought through solutions based on data analysis while considering the 'bigger picture' - You have excellent stakeholder management and influence skills and the ability to work across multiple teams in a large organization, align goals and drive overall success independent of organizational boundaries - You possess excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complexity into clarity and experience of updating C-level stakeholders - You have a strong track record in leading and developing people **OUR OFFER**: Zalando provides a range of benefits, here's an overview of what you can expect.
