We are working on creating a new product, Toolbox Enterprise, to help companies manage their IntelliJ-based IDEs for hundreds of developers. It will distribute selected IDE versions, plugins, and standard configurations across all developer machines. Toolbox Enterprise will also collect metrics and error reports to help companies improve their developer experience and save money. The product documentation covers multiple areas like a server side with Docker and Docker-Compose, admin web UI, Toolbox App, and an IntelliJ-based IDE experience.
At JetBrains, Technical Writers are part of the product teams. Our documentation process is very open: Technical writers communicate directly with the developers, product managers, and QA engineers to get all the required technical information. Product documentation is written in XML or Markdown using JetBrains’ IDEs to suit our needs. All source code is under Git version control.
We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our team and help make Toolbox Enterprise product documentation and new user onboarding as good and simple to understand as can be.
**Responsibilities**:
- Writing concise technical articles in English for our user documentation and blog.
- Maintaining and improving the existing documentation based on our roadmap and user feedback.
- Writing technical content for marketing materials (web pages, videos, etc.).
- Constantly learning about Toolbox Enterprise and its integrations by exploring them yourself and communicating with other team members.
**Requirements**:
- 2+ years of experience in technical writing.
- Fluent spoken English, excellent written English.
- Experience with authoring tools, issue trackers, and version control systems.
- Experience in working with a large documentation base.
- Knowledge of markup languages.
- Experience with authoring tools, issue tracking, and version control systems.
- General understanding of single-source authoring.
- Ability to gather, analyze, and use various types of data required at different stages of document authoring.
- Understanding of the needs of different target audiences.
- Ability to learn new things quickly.
Additional requirements:
- Knowledge of Java or other programming languages is a plus.
- General understanding of CI/CD processes, DevOps, and cloud services.
