Job Description

We are seeking a talented Search Engineer to join Delivery Hero's mission to deliver amazing experiences. Our search teams power search experiences in over 60 countries and 35 languages, handling 80M+ searches daily across 4 continents.

As a Search Engineer, you will focus on improving the search experience for our users. You will be responsible for making search results relevant, enabling users to find their favorite cuisine and items easily and quickly.

Some challenges we are working on in the search domain include:
  • Improving search result ranking
  • Understanding user search intent
  • Reducing zero result rates for user searches
  • Making search results and suggestions relevant to users

Responsibilities:
  • Make the search experience frictionless for users
  • Design and implement cutting-edge search applications
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product teams to solve search problems
  • Develop scalable and reliable search services used across multiple countries and languages
  • Build and maintain high-traffic services and APIs

Qualifications:
  • Computer science degree or related field
  • Experience with Elasticsearch/Solr/Lucene and building scalable information retrieval systems
  • Good understanding of search relevance and experience improving search relevance using text and semantic matching algorithms
  • Experience with building low-latency scalable software systems
  • Extensive knowledge of Java Frameworks
  • Solid experience in API design and implementation
