Job Description

We are seeking a talented Search Engineer to join our team at Delivery Hero, where you will play a crucial role in shaping the search experience for our users.

As a key member of our search team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing cutting-edge search applications that transform the food and grocery delivery industry.

Some of the challenges we are working on in the search domain include:

  • Improving the ranking of search results
  • Understanding the intent behind user search queries
  • Reducing the zero result rate for user search queries
  • Making search results and suggestions relevant to our users

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable and reliable search services used across multiple countries and languages
  • Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to solve search problems
  • Develop and maintain high-traffic services and APIs in a team of experienced software engineers
  • Practice modern software development methodologies such as continuous delivery, TDD, and Scrum

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields
  • Experience working with Elasticsearch, Solr, or Lucene, and building scalable information retrieval systems
  • Good understanding of search relevance and experience improving search relevance using text and semantic matching algorithms and NLP techniques
  • Experience with building low-latency scalable software systems
  • Extensive knowledge and working experience with Java Frameworks
  • Solid experience in the design and implementation of APIs and design patterns
