Master Thesis Researcher: Carbon Materials for Energy Storage

About the Project

We are seeking a highly motivated Master's thesis researcher to join our team at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. As part of this project, you will investigate the synthesis of mesoporous carbon materials from sugar via an ionothermal route and test their functionality in energy storage systems.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct literature research on the basics and relevant material systems
  • Produce mesoporous carbon materials from different material systems
  • Identify and balance products and by-products
  • Prepare and classify characterization results, particularly from N2 isotherms
  • Perform initial electrochemical characterizations, if necessary
Requirements
  • Studies in natural sciences or engineering (chemistry, mechanical engineering, environmental/process engineering or similar)
  • Practical experience in laboratory work or conducting experiments on technical systems
  • Good English skills
  • Independent and conscientious scientific work
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
