Master Thesis Researcher: Sugar-Based Mesoporous Carbon Materials

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled researcher to join our team at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. As a Master's thesis researcher, you will work on the development of sugar-based mesoporous carbon materials for energy storage systems.

Our research focuses on the synthesis and characterization of mesoporous carbons, which are promising materials for use in energy storage systems. You will be responsible for testing known and alternative material systems to compare their functionality and adapt the products to specific battery types.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Literature research on the basics and relevant material systems
  • Production of mesoporous carbon materials from different material systems
  • Identification and balancing of products and by-products
  • Preparation and classification of the characterization results, in particular from N2 isotherms
  • Depending on the progress of the work, initial electrochemical characterizations may also be carried out

Requirements:

  • Studies in natural sciences or engineering (chemistry, mechanical engineering, environmental/process engineering or similar)
  • Practical experience, e.g. laboratory work or conducting experiments on technical systems
  • Good English skills are an advantage
  • Independent and conscientious scientific way of working
  • Strong communication skills and enjoy working in a team
