Groupleader of the Diagnostics Group

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the diagnostics group and leadership of the staff. This includes financial and personnel planning, coordination of R&D, construction, operation, and maintenance of beam diagnostics and instrumentation, as well as collaboration with international cooperation partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead a team of engineers, technical staff, scientists, and students
  • Develop and implement projects in a multi-project organizational structure
  • Coordinate with coordinators of different DESY accelerators and the accelerator division director
  • Participate in seminars and meetings on the operation of existing and development of new accelerator facilities
  • Participate in congresses and publish research results
Requirements:
  • Completed scientific university studies in physics, engineering, or comparable disciplines
  • PhD desired
  • Extensive professional experience in accelerator physics and operations
  • Proven expertise in the physics of particle accelerators, beam diagnostics, and instrumentation
  • Experience in personnel/project/operations management
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential; basic fluency in German is desirable but not mandatory
