At the Fraunhofer Institute of Optronics, System Technologies and Image Exploitation IOSB, we are committed to turning the latest scientific findings into technical innovations that shape the future.

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Scientist to join our QmagiC research group, which focuses on developing quantum-inspired imaging systems that achieve resolutions far beyond the diffraction limit. Our team uses techniques from quantum optics and quantum metrology to investigate how to perform spatial-mode demultiplexing (SpaDe) through complex optical media.

As a Research Scientist, you will have the opportunity to conduct theoretical and/or experimental research to identify the positions of objects observed through complex optical media with sub-diffraction precision. You will also be involved in international collaborations with world-leading experts in quantum science and technology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting theoretical and/or experimental research to identify the positions of objects observed through complex optical media
  • Participating in international collaborations with world-leading experts in quantum science and technology
  • Continuing to educate yourself in the subject area to stay up-to-date with new findings and tools
  • Supervising and guiding students and student assistants in the research group

Requirements include:

  • A completed PhD in physics, optical engineering, or a related subject
  • Experience in quantum optics and/or complex media optics
  • Experience in quantum metrology is appreciated but not required
