Head of Search Engine Optimization

The Search Engine Optimization (SEO) team at ABOUT YOU plays a crucial role in driving the company's performance in organic search engine results across all markets. As part of the Marketing Intelligence and Technology unit, we rely on data to form hypotheses and build business cases. Our goal is to employ scalable solutions that can be rolled out across all shops and collect data points to assess their effectiveness, constantly learning and improving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of SEO endeavors across 25+ countries and 3 platforms (desktop web, mobile web, and app)
  • Develop, monitor, and report necessary KPIs to make SEO success transparent
  • Drive the development of internal SEO tooling setup and SEO data warehouse based on Google BigQuery
  • Define SEO strategy in alignment with business goals and drive its execution from start to finish
  • Lead the SEO team, fostering a culture of transparency, continuous learning, and development, while ensuring team health metrics stay on track
  • Build relationships within the organization to establish SEO as a first-class citizen in ongoing processes
  • Implement SEO features in close collaboration with the online shop team
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in SEO (Google Updates, SERP features, SGE, etc.) and assess their impact on our strategy

Requirements

  • Practical experience in an SEO leadership role, preferably in an international, large-scale e-commerce area
  • High degree of ownership and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Strong communication skills to push SEO projects forward across stakeholders
  • Develop, mentor, and coach team members
  • Continuous challenging and development of existing processes and routines
  • Ability to break down complex strategies into actionable tasks and communicate them to stakeholders and team members
  • Analytical skills and affinity to derive decisions based on data rather than opinions
  • Ability to develop solutions that can be applied on scale and drive their implementation from start to finish
  • Solid understanding of technical SEO fundamentals (e.g., client-server interactions, HTTP status codes, crawling/rendering/indexing processes, HTML, and CSS)
  • Willingness to adopt necessary skills to create an efficient working environment (e.g., SQL for queries against our data warehouse, Python for simple automations or pulling data from APIs, Google Sheets/Excel scripting)
  • Experienced user of common SEO tools (e.g., Search Console, Audisto, Screaming Frog, Sistrix)
  • Professional English skills, both spoken and written, to communicate efficiently in our international working environment
