About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Engineer to join our Amazon Web Services Development Center Germany GmbH - R28 team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and maintaining our core compute platforms, with a focus on EC2 and other AWS services.

As a Software Development Engineer, you will work closely with technical leaders to refine technical direction and implement detailed analysis, designs, and superior code. You will be responsible for writing, reading, reviewing, and iterating over narrative documents for planning and technical designs, as well as leading other engineers to contribute to your implementation.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from building and deploying Linux platforms to designing and implementing automated build processes and software testing. You will also have the chance to contribute to open source projects and work with a diverse team of experienced engineers.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software solutions for our core compute platforms
  • Work closely with technical leaders to refine technical direction and implement detailed analysis, designs, and superior code
  • Write, read, review, and iterate over narrative documents for planning and technical designs
  • Lead other engineers to contribute to your implementation
  • Contribute to open source projects and work with a diverse team of experienced engineers
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Several years of industry experience focused on Linux
  • Several years of software development experience
  • Several years of experience with CI/CD and test automation tools
  • Several years of experience in reliably confirming (or disproving) test hypotheses
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with the open source community, including upstream contributions
  • Experience with distributed systems architecture and related technologies
  • Experience in designing experiments and analysis of results with statistical relevance
