Accounting Director Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Director to join our team at expondo GmbH. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions across all our international entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Consolidation: Set up and oversee the consolidation of financial statements from all international entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Tax Compliance and Strategy: Ensure compliance with international tax regulations and e-commerce tax laws across all regions, and develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's financial position.
  • Process and System Implementation: Introduce and oversee the implementation of accounting systems and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy, and develop and enforce policies and procedures that enhance internal controls and support business objectives.
  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams across Germany, Poland, the UK, and China, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the CFO and other senior executives to support strategic decision-making, and provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis and reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance financial operations, and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company's accounting practices remain current and compliant.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing international teams.
  • Exposure to digital transformation of finance function to deliver efficiencies and productivity, with experience in implementing accounting systems and process improvements.
  • Strong knowledge of international accounting standards, tax regulations, and e-commerce industry practices, IFRS, and German GAAP accounting standards (HGB).
  • Experience and expertise in governance and compliance framework set up & implementation in high growth organizations globally, and understanding of European ESG regulations.
  • Proven track record in managing financial consolidations for multinational entities, and exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluent German and English language skills are required, with Polish being a huge asset.
