Accounting Director Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Director to join our team at expondo GmbH. As a key member of our financial leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions across all our international entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Consolidation: Set up and oversee the consolidation of financial statements from all international entities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards.
  • Tax Compliance and Strategy: Ensure compliance with international tax regulations and e-commerce tax laws across all regions, and develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's financial position.
  • Process and System Implementation: Introduce and oversee the implementation of accounting systems and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy, and develop and enforce policies and procedures that enhance internal controls and support business objectives.
  • Team Leadership and Management: Lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams across Germany, Poland, the UK, and China, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the CFO and other senior executives to support strategic decision-making, and provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis and reporting.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and drive initiatives to enhance financial operations, and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure the company's accounting practices remain current and compliant.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing international teams.
  • Strong knowledge of international accounting standards, tax regulations, and e-commerce industry practices, IFRS, and German GAAP accounting standards (HGB).
  • Proven track record in managing financial consolidations for multinational entities, and experience in implementing accounting systems and process improvements.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Fluent German and English language skills, with Polish a huge asset.
