Bioinformatics Project Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Scientist, Bioinformatics to join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for leading technical aspects of bioinformatics and software projects, from requirements analysis to deployment.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Leadership: Provide technical expertise and insights to multidisciplinary teams, collaborating with product management, domain specialists, and developers to define technical roadmaps and prioritize feature development.
- Team Mentoring: Mentor junior team members to foster skill development and ensure high-quality work.
- Staying Current: Stay updated with the latest advancements in bioinformatics and integrate these into software development projects.
- Integration Expertise: Work with diverse teams to integrate bioinformatics knowledge into software solutions seamlessly.
- Education: Degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field; PhD or at least 6 years of professional experience in the relevant field.
- Technical Skills: Solid understanding of bioinformatics concepts, algorithms, and data structures; experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (e.g. BLAST, Genome Browsers, NCBI databases); familiarity with data analysis techniques and statistical methods.
- Software Development: Proficiency in object-oriented software development (e.g..Net, Java), frameworks, and tools.
- Analytical Mindset: An analytical mindset with a passion for solving complex problems.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Proactive Approach: A proactive approach to learning and professional development, with an interest in staying current with advancements in the field.
- Communication Skills: Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
