Job Title: Head of Department

Company Overview: Volocopter GmbH is a pioneer in electric air taxis, committed to sustainable urban air mobility. We are seeking a skilled leader to manage our Avionics & Flight Controls department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Engineering Managers to ensure product development strategy is robust and forward-thinking.
  • Guarantee adherence to national and international regulations.
  • Foster efficient communication with CTO areas and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain deep end-to-end responsibility for department deliverables.
  • Provide technical and disciplinary leadership to direct reports.
  • Proactively identify hiring and training needs for the team.
  • Ensure high standards of development quality within the team.
  • Collaborate with other CTO-departments and cross-functional areas to guarantee best company results.
  • Manage the departmental budget.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in departments main technical field.
  • PHD or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or comparable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and work cross-functionally.
  • Experience with leading motivated and high performing teams.
  • Ability to lead and train team leaders.
  • Substantial Management and leadership knowledge.
  • Very good English language skills (written & spoken).
  • Strategic mindset regarding future technology (roadmaps).
