Senior Engineer for PETRA III/IV Sample Environment Instrumentation Development

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer to join our team at DESY, responsible for the design, construction, and commissioning of technical instrumentation for challenging PETRA IV beamline requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop automated sample exchange systems for cryogenic applications in collaboration with beamline teams.
- Conceptualize and standardize highly stable in-situ and operando X-ray experiments with a focus on cryogenics.
- Integrate new concepts, tools, and equipment into the PETRA IV Business and Access Model.

About You:- You hold a Master or Bachelor of Engineering degree with a specialization in mechatronics, physical engineering, or a comparable field.
- You have solid design knowledge in electromechanical constructional systems using 3D CAD software with database.
- You possess expertise in cryogenics and knowledge in precision mechanics and vacuum technology.
- You have experience with software programming (e.g., Python) and/or electrical engineering.
- You are able to work as part of a team, possess organizational skills, self-initiative, and the ability to work independently.
- You have good communication skills in English.
