Position: Network Engineer (all genders) - Security

As a vital member of the Netzbetrieb team within the Technik/Betrieb division, you will be instrumental in the strategic planning and operational oversight of IT-Security functions for an Internet Service Provider. Collaborating within a dedicated team, you will manage daily operations, customer requests, and project implementations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Deployment, management, and surveillance of security and network infrastructure, including VPN gateways, firewalls, and load balancers, across both operational and project settings
  • Assistance in the implementation of security measures during cyber incidents
  • Support for second-level assistance in network and IT security
  • Consultation and aid for other departments in executing IT projects related to network communication and security
  • Integration of new networking technologies and innovative IT solutions for optimization and automation
  • Participation in on-call rotations

Your Qualifications

  • Strong expertise and experience with firewalls and load balancers
  • Comprehensive understanding of standard signaling and transmission protocols in IP networks
  • Solid knowledge of L3 networking technologies, including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), policy-based routing, QoS, and L3-MPLS
  • Proficiency in Linux and scripting languages
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, and conceptual abilities
  • Collaborative team player with a strong desire to learn and effective communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and focus on achieving goals
  • Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
