Chicago Youth Centers is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our centers, as well as providing transportation services for our youth.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting floors, as well as cleaning and disinfecting toilets, urinals, sinks, and mirrors.
  • Check and replace hand soap, paper towels, and tissue dispensers, as well as replace light bulbs and clean baseboards, air vents, and light fixtures.
  • Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum, and shampoo carpets, and use pressure washers, high-speed buffers, and vacuums for general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
  • Spot wash walls and monitor and report needs for building or equipment repairs.
  • Provide transportation services for our youth, including picking up youth from community schools and delivering them to our centers.
  • Work with the Program Manager to create a transportation schedule and establish relationships with school personnel.
  • Manage the cleanliness of vans weekly and monitor the vans for routine and emergency maintenance and repairs.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least 1-2 years of related experience in cleaning and maintenance.
  • Valid driver's license in Illinois.
  • Must pass DMV and criminal background check.
  • Ability to climb ladders and travel between various CYC sites.
  • Skills in using cleaning products and equipment, as well as basic computer skills.
  • Bilingual language ability is a plus (Spanish-speaking).
  • Knowledge of health, fire, and safety codes.
