Senior Director of CASE Innovation and Application

Brenntag, a leading global distributor of chemical ingredients and vital products, is currently seeking a Senior Director of CASE Innovation and Application. This pivotal role is responsible for driving innovation and application development across the coatings and construction sectors within the EMEA region.

About the Role

This senior leadership position will oversee the management of Brenntag's IACs (Innovation and Application Centers) to support the commercial function. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the EMEA-wide Salesforce VAS (technical service requests) and reporting output to management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensuring that IACs align with Brenntag's sustainability policy and targets, while developing and maintaining projects to meet these goals.
  • Developing and maintaining a database to capture coatings and construction formulations and know-how.
  • Extending Brenntag's inherent application development capability across the coatings and construction market sectors.
  • Collaborating with suppliers on innovation, new formulation development, and formulation optimization.
  • Identifying emerging customer application needs and trends in focus industries with all stakeholders.
  • Providing technical solutions and application training to the technical, commercial team, and customers.
  • Leveraging new technologies and transferring knowledge to the technical, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Developing proof-of-concept prototype formulations to grow key supplier technologies.
  • Identifying opportunities for new products or applications from working with key suppliers and understanding regulatory changes and emerging market trends.
  • Undertaking joint visits with commercial teams when required for technical presentations to customers.
  • Investigating customer complaints on quality issues and regulatory enquiries.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Material Science/Chemistry, which would be advantageous, although relevant technical experience will also be considered.
  • Multiple years of working experience in coatings/construction laboratory/manufacturing, combined with managerial experience and broad knowledge of CASE applications/markets.
  • Self-motivation, drive, independence, and a result-oriented approach.
  • A good command of spoken English, with solid writing skills for reports, training materials, and procedures.
  • Effective communication skills to clearly present technical and product information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to travel as required to achieve business objectives.
  • A strong leader who can work independently and as part of a team, with excellent interpersonal skills in a multicultural environment.
Estimated Salary Range

Ranging from €90,000 to €120,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
