Technician for Laboratory and Measurement Equipment Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at CSA Group. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for setting up and operating test equipment, performing specific and routine tests, and recording technical data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with other Laboratory Technicians and Certifiers to complete assigned projects within negotiated time and cost schedules.
  • Set up and operate all test equipment and perform all tests within a certain product area, determining compliance with requirements and recommending certification.
  • Perform tests in accordance with work orders, conducting routine tests independently and assisting in complex or unusual tests under senior staff guidance.
  • Record technical data and draft test result reports, performing mathematical calculations to summarize test results.
  • Assemble and disassemble test samples, hook up laboratory test equipment, and operate most laboratory test equipment.
  • Note and record substandard features of products and refer them to the manager or Certifier.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of tools, equipment, and work area, and carry out assigned laboratory clean-up duties.

Requirements:

  • Technical Certificate or equivalent education and experience.
  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of a variety of standards, electrical codes, and electric and electronic circuits.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised in a team-based work environment.
  • Must be able to read engineering drawings and test data.
  • Must have some knowledge of Laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures.
  • Must be team-oriented with good interpersonal skills and abilities to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
