Senior Laboratory Technician

Job Summary:

As a Senior Laboratory Technician at CSA Group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of products through testing and certification. Under the direction of senior personnel, you will set up and operate test equipment, perform specific and routine tests, and record technical data.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work with other laboratory technicians and certifiers to complete assigned projects within negotiated time and cost schedules.
  • Set up and operate all test equipment and perform all tests within a certain product area, determining compliance with requirements and recommending certification.
  • Perform tests in accordance with work orders, conducting routine tests independently and assisting in complex or unusual tests under guidance from senior staff.
  • Record technical data and draft test result reports, performing mathematical calculations to summarize test results.
  • Assemble and disassemble test samples, hook up laboratory test equipment, and operate most laboratory test equipment.
  • Identify and record substandard features of products and refer them to the manager or certifier.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of tools, equipment, and work areas, and perform assigned laboratory clean-up duties.
Requirements:
  • Technical Certificate or equivalent education and experience.
  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of standards, electrical codes, electric and electronic circuits, and troubleshooting electronic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised in a team-based work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and client-service oriented.
