The Justus-Liebig-Universität Giessen is seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher to join its Excellence Cluster Cardio-Pulmonary Institute (CPI).

Job Description:

The CPI combines state-of-the-art basic science and sophisticated pre-clinical research in lung and heart diseases. As a researcher in this field, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of international experts and contribute to the development of new treatments and therapies for lung diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate research results independently and write scientific abstracts and manuscripts
  • Participate in one of the internationally leading graduate programmes associated with pulmonary research
  • Conduct experimental research in areas such as molecular, cell biological, physiological, histological examinations and systemic effects of lung diseases
  • Investigate genetic/epigenetic pathways leading to lung injury and repair
  • Disease modelling using ex vivo human material/cells
  • Examinations performed in pre-clinical disease models using available cutting edge technologies

Requirements:

  • Master degree (or equivalent) in life sciences or a degree in human or veterinary medicine
  • Knowledge and experience in performing the activities mentioned above
  • High degree of responsibility, motivation, communication skills in collaboration with colleagues and scientists, flexibility, commitment and interest in scientific work and laboratory activities
