Job Summary
Finance in Motion is seeking a seasoned professional to join our team as a Senior Expert - Environmental & Social Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the company's approach to environmental and social (E&S) risk management throughout the investment cycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Finance in Motion's investment teams to execute the company's approach to E&S risk management by conducting E&S screenings, due diligence, and negotiations with investees.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Finance in Motion's Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) based on lessons of experience and external developments in good practice, policy, and regulation.
- Build and implement ESG frameworks for new fund mandates.
- Contribute to technical and policy-level discussions on impact and sustainability issues and fund results with internal and external stakeholders.
- Support strategic discussions, lead research on selected topics, and contribute to further shaping Finance in Motion's impact and sustainability approach, capabilities, and track record.
Requirements:
- University degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, economics, development finance, or a related field.
- Professional experience in E&S auditing, ESIA, E&S risk management, and similar work in the consulting, investment, or development finance sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of international E&S norms and familiarity with the E&S policies and procedures of development finance institutions.
- Specialist technical expertise in one or more of the following subjects: supply chains, human rights, labor standards, biodiversity, climate change, circular economy, and diversity, and inclusion.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to draw actionable conclusions and pragmatic recommendations for decision-makers.
- Open, engaging, and persuasive communication style, strong writing and presentation skills, and problem-solving/negotiating experience.
- Excellent English language skills; knowledge of other languages of Finance in Motion's countries of operation is considered a plus.
