Job Title: Senior Expert - Environmental & Social Management

Finance in Motion is seeking a highly skilled Senior Expert - Environmental & Social Management to join our team. As a key member of our investment team, you will be responsible for executing our approach to environmental and social (E&S) risk management throughout the investment cycle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the investment team in executing E&S risk management throughout the investment cycle, including E&S screening, due diligence, and monitoring of ongoing E&S performance.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our Environmental and Social Management Systems (ESMS) based on lessons of experience and external developments in good practice, policy, and regulation.
  • Build and implement ESG frameworks for new fund mandates.
  • Contribute to technical and policy-level discussions on impact and sustainability issues and fund results with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support strategic discussions, lead research on selected topics, and contribute to further shaping Finance in Motion's impact and sustainability approach, capabilities, and track record.
Requirements:
  • University degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, economics, development finance, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in E&S auditing, ESIA, E&S risk management, and similar work in either the consulting, investment, or development finance sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of international E&S norms and familiarity with the E&S policies and procedures of development finance institutions.
  • Specialist technical expertise in one or more of the following subjects: supply chains, human rights, labor standards, biodiversity, climate change, circular economy, and diversity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to draw actionable conclusions and pragmatic recommendations for decision-makers.
  • Strong communication style, writing, and presentation skills, and problem-solving/negotiating experience.
  • Excellent English language skills; knowledge of other languages of Finance in Motion's countries of operation is considered a plus.
