Project Management Specialist in Radio Astronomy

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Project Coordinator (m/f/x) to join our Pilot Team focused on advanced methodologies in Radio Astronomy. This role is integral to the establishment of the German Centre for Astrophysics (DZA) and will be based in Görlitz and/or Dresden.

Contract Details:
This position is initially limited until December 31, 2025, with potential for extension or permanent placement following the initial phase. The employment terms are governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate subprojects aimed at developing next-generation radio astronomical algorithms and data processing at the DZA.
- Establish and lead a research group focused on innovative projects.
- Oversee project conception, execution, and reporting, ensuring effective communication with project partners.
- Organize and participate in project meetings, maintaining oversight of project organization and control.
- Conduct independent research in critical areas such as infrastructure for large radio astronomical datasets and software solutions for advanced radio telescopes.
- Engage in local, national, and international conferences, presenting research findings and publishing results in reputable journals.

Qualifications:
- A university degree and PhD in relevant fields such as physics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, astronomy, or astrophysics.
- Extensive knowledge in physics, mathematics, computer science, electrical engineering, and/or astrophysics.
- Experience with European funding, procurement, and collaboration with industrial partners.
- Proven ability to coordinate project teams and manage research projects effectively.
- Strong adaptability and willingness to travel for professional engagements.
