About the Role

Arkane Studios is seeking a highly skilled Game Engine Architect to join our Core Technology group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining significant portions of our idTech engine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our Core Technology group to create a high-performance, feature-rich game engine tailored for our legendary titles.
  • Work closely with other engineers, artists, and designers to ensure seamless integration and iteration.
  • Accurately estimate schedules and deliver high-quality work products on time.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our engine's architecture and components.
  • Identify and prioritize areas for improvement, and implement changes to enhance performance, stability, and maintainability.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in game industry programming, with a strong focus on C++ design and coding.
  • Experience working with multithreaded, real-time systems, and a deep understanding of performance optimization techniques.
  • Excellent math skills and the ability to write clear, maintainable, portable code.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and experience working in cross-discipline teams.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrable industry experience.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with any version of idTech.
  • Experience with Vulkan and DirectX 12.
  • Experience with modern Console Development (PS4, XB1, Switch).
  • Experience with C++11.
  • Experience with animation, 3D graphics, audio, AI, or gameplay programming.
  • Experience with game editor and commercial tools (Max, PhotoShop, Substance, Modo, WWise, plugins/modification).
  • Experience with Qt.
