Overview

Arkane Studios is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engine Programmer to join our team and contribute to the development of our cutting-edge game engine. As a key member of our Core Technology group, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining critical components of our engine, ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance, stability, and scalability.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our Core Technology team to create a world-class game engine that meets the needs of our developers and artists.
  • Develop and maintain high-quality, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to our coding standards.
  • Work closely with other engineers, artists, and designers to identify and prioritize engine development tasks, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality features.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve our engine and processes.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in game engine development, with a strong focus on C++ programming.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, performant, and maintainable code.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with modern graphics APIs, such as Vulkan, DirectX12, or Metal, and familiarity with various CPU and GPU architectures.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with idTech or other game engines.
  • Familiarity with animation, 3D graphics, audio, AI, or gameplay programming.
  • Knowledge of modern source control systems, such as Git and Perforce.
