Job Summary

The Translational Science Lead (TSL) is a key figure in advancing Bayer's oncology portfolio. The TSL creates significant impact through the successful progression of global development programs and pipeline expansion, from early target assessment through life cycle management.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an integrated translational sciences strategy to drive sustained value creation for patients and the business.
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership in precision medicine, ensuring consistent high quality and speed of Translational Science deliverables.
  • Develop translational strategies from pre-clinical stages, bringing new agents to the clinic, and ensuring critical input and continued support of preclinical projects.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of ownership, innovation, and creativity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive Translation Science excellence and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
  • Represent Bayer in external governance bodies and drive strategic initiatives in support of the overall TSO, RED-ONC, Oncology, and Bayer strategy.

Requirements

  • MD and/or PhD in Biochemistry, molecular Biology, Genetics or equivalent.
  • Long-term industry experience in the field of biomarkers/precision medicine with proven track record of successful leadership.
  • Scientific excellence, demonstrated by a track record of relevant basic and/or translational research documented in peer-reviewed publications.
  • Outstanding drug development expertise, demonstrated ability to integrate innovation to advance Precision Medicine in Oncology.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, coupled with strategic thinking and foresight.

Location

The successful candidate may be based in Germany, Switzerland, or the United States.
