Director of Research for Particle Physics

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to lead our particle physics division as Director of Research. As a key member of our Board of Directors, you will play a leading role in shaping the future of particle physics at DESY, including cooperation with other research areas and fostering our role as a hub in the German academic ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities- Head the particle physics division and represent the field of particle physics in the Helmholtz Association, national, and international networks and organizations.
- Coordinate DESY's contribution to national and international projects in particle physics.
- Closely cooperate with the committees of the research centre and the funding bodies.
- Take over responsibility for certain central infrastructure service groups that provide services for the entire campus, including computing and electronics.
We are looking for an outstanding scientist with international stature and a broad spectrum of expertise in particle physics and related areas, including required technologies. You should have proven scientific leadership and excellent management skills, as well as knowledge of the international research landscape and opportunities.
