Head of Particle Physics Division

The Head of Particle Physics Division will be responsible for leading the particle physics division at Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY. This includes shaping the future of particle physics at DESY, fostering its role as a hub in the German academic ecosystem, and representing the field of particle physics in national and international networks and organisations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific record, international stature, and a broad spectrum of expertise in particle physics and related areas. They will also have proven scientific leadership and excellent management skills, as well as excellent communication, networking, and partnership building skills.
About the Team:
DESY is one of the world's leading research centres, with a vibrant experimental programme in particle physics. The team is involved in the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the Large Hadron Collider, the Belle II experiment at SuperKEKB, and ongoing and planned medium-scale on-site experiments. The team also hosts a world-leading group in theoretical particle physics and operates one of the largest computing centres for particle physics, astroparticle physics, photon science, and accelerator physics.

The appointment is for a period of five years, with the possibility of reappointment.
