Your Role
As a vital member of the RWE Structured Finance team, you will be tasked with crafting innovative financing solutions tailored for our Renewables sector. Your primary focus will be on structuring, negotiating, and executing non-recourse financing solutions across various renewable technologies and markets. You will navigate project teams through the intricacies of the financing landscape, collaborate with external advisors, and facilitate internal decision-making to ensure the successful closure of financing structures that meet the unique requirements of each project. Your contributions will significantly influence the advancement of renewable energy and allow you to leverage your expertise in a meaningful way.

  • Take full ownership of the preparation, structuring, negotiation, and execution of intricate financing solutions for renewable projects, ensuring alignment and coordination among all internal and external stakeholders on finance-related matters.
  • Support RWE's M&A initiatives by overseeing financial due diligence on finance-related issues (including financing structures, contingent liabilities, hedging, etc.); identify potential risks and opportunities, develop mitigation strategies, assist in drafting transaction documents, and guide the transaction through to completion.
  • Manage the application and execution of export credit insurances and investment guarantees, such as those provided by the Federal Republic of Germany.
  • Act as the primary liaison for external debt advisors, responsible for defining and negotiating debt advisory mandates.
  • Advise the RWE Renewables Group (and its affiliates) on all finance-related inquiries, including financial risk assessments, leasing options, and other financing structures, as well as implications for ratings.
  • Develop, draft, and review internal finance directives for the group and oversee approval requests.

Your Qualifications

  • University degree in finance, banking, or economics.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in non-recourse project finance, having successfully secured substantial project debt and participated in multiple transactions (with at least one in a lead capacity).
  • Deep understanding of corporate and structured finance solutions, including non-recourse project financing and other cash flow-based financing instruments.
  • Strong grasp of related disciplines such as Legal, Valuation, Tax, and Accounting, with the ability to coordinate across these areas on finance-related issues and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written) across various departments and levels; strong negotiation abilities and the capacity to present complex structures clearly.
  • Robust intercultural competencies, a high level of commitment and resilience, and a willingness to operate independently and entrepreneurially.
  • Fluency in both German and English.
  • Willingness to travel (approximately 25%).
