Position Overview:

CSA Group is currently seeking a Field Evaluation Specialist (m/f/d) to be based in a European location, providing essential services to clients across the continent.

As part of our field evaluation program, you will assist manufacturers in navigating the North American market when certification is not yet feasible, while still ensuring compliance with local regulations.

  • Perform thorough technical evaluations of non-certified products at manufacturing facilities or in the field to verify adherence to safety standards and technical specifications, effectively reducing fire and shock risks.
  • Professionally coordinate inspection appointments with clients, discussing pricing structures, addressing inquiries, and offering tailored technical advice aligned with the Field Evaluation program.
  • Analyze technical schematics submitted for assessment and provide constructive feedback.
  • Compile comprehensive technical reports detailing necessary modifications for non-compliant equipment and engage in discussions regarding corrective actions with clients.
  • Conduct inspections on innovative technologies or complex products, making informed technical judgments as required.
  • Support job quoting by integrating technical information and considering logistical factors such as time and travel.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, decision-making, and organizational capabilities.
  • Demonstrate the technical acumen necessary to independently evaluate a variety of products or collaborate with a technical team.
  • Manage multiple inspection projects and adapt to changing schedules under guidance.
  • Utilize calibrated measurement tools, high-voltage testing equipment, and hand tools with proficiency.
  • Accurately interpret engineering drawings and test results.
  • Showcase exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Apply effective conflict resolution strategies to handle challenging scenarios.
  • Proficiency in English is essential, with knowledge of additional European languages, such as Italian, being a plus.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of industry experience; or
  • An Engineering Technology or Associate's Degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience; or
  • A Journeyman Electrician with 5 years of industry experience; or a related technical field with over 7 years of experience.
  • Experience in certification or laboratory testing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and general laboratory practices.
  • Knowledge of U.S. and Canadian electrical standards and the ability to apply these standards to local installation requirements and codes (e.g., NEC, CEC, NFPA 790 & 791, SPE-1000, and SPE-3000).
