Access and Safety Officer

Malteser International is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Access and Safety Officer to join our team in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria.
About the Role:The Access and Safety Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all Malteser International staff, assets, and programs within the country. This includes conducting risk assessments, developing and implementing safety and security plans, and providing training and capacity building to staff.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct regular qualitative follow-up of the political, military, and security context in the country.
- Develop and implement safety and security plans, including risk assessments and contingency planning.
- Provide training and capacity building to staff on safety and security procedures.
- Ensure regular security and incident reports are completed and uploaded on relevant share points.
- Supervise and liaise with contracted facilities guards to ensure they are trained and aware of Malteser International's SOPs.
- Attend security coordination and bilateral meetings and update the Country Coordinator on current security issues.
- A master's degree in a field related to Humanitarian Work or Risk Management, with a minimum of four years of demonstrative experience in Safety and Security with INGOs in Nigeria.
- Strong assessment, evaluation, reporting, and analysis skills, strategic planning skills with proven technical expertise in safety and security management.
- Technical competency and training experience in field-based communication systems, with sound knowledge of humanitarian principles of impartiality and neutrality.
- Existing networks with influential actors in the Northwest, Northeast, and South-South states of Nigeria.
- IT literate, with experience in incident reporting, incident mapping, intelligence collation and analysis functions, and compilation of security reports and assessments.
- Proven fluency in written and spoken English, and a proven understanding of local languages like Hausa and Kanuri.
- Start Date: August 2024
- Duty Station: Maiduguri, Borno State (With frequent travels to field locations on a need basis)
- Duration of contract: Up till December with the possibility of renewal
- Salary expectation: Salary according to qualification and experience, insurance package.
