Access and Safety Officer

Job Title: Access and Safety Officer - National Position
Malteser International is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Access and Safety Officer to support the Country Coordinator and Senior Management Team in ensuring the safety and security of all MI staff, assets, and programs within the country.
Key Responsibilities:
- Security Management: Develop and implement comprehensive security plans, including risk assessments, contingency planning, and incident response.
- Context Analysis: Conduct regular qualitative analysis of the political, military, and security context in the country.
- Access: Negotiate with civilian and military authorities, as well as the UN System, to ensure safe access to program areas.
- Training and Capacity Building: Develop training plans and ensure all staff and security focal points receive essential safety and security training.
- Reporting and Information Management: Provide regular security and incident reports, including situational updates and capacity enhancement developments.
- Human Resources: Supervise and liaise with contracted facilities guards to ensure they are trained and aware of Malteser International's SOPs.
- Representation and Coordination: Attend security coordination and bilateral meetings, and update the Country Coordinator on current security issues.
Requirements:
- A master's degree in a field related to Humanitarian Work or Risk Management, with a minimum of four years of experience in Safety and Security with INGOs in Nigeria.
- Strong assessment, evaluation, reporting, and analysis skills, with proven technical expertise in safety and security management.
- Technical competency and training experience in field-based communication systems, with sound knowledge of humanitarian principles.
- Existing networks with influential actors in Nigeria, including security, political, social, cultural, and religious levels.
- IT literate, with experience in incident reporting, incident mapping, intelligence collation and analysis functions, and compilation of security reports and assessments.
- Proven fluency in written and spoken English, and a proven understanding of local languages like Hausa and Kanuri.

- Duty Station: Maiduguri, Borno State (with frequent travels to field locations)
- Duration of contract: Up till December with the possibility of renewal
