Responsibilities:
The prospective candidate will embody the discipline of energy technology within the department, adopting a holistic approach in both research and education while advancing the field in a progressive direction. The ideal applicant should possess a comprehensive technical foundation in energy production, distribution, and conservation, along with exceptional scholarly expertise in various research domains:
· Automation, control, and optimization techniques in energy technology
· Cybersecurity and digital transformation in energy technology
· Power electronic architectures in energy technology
· Energy conservation systems in energy technology
· Network design and management (e.g., risk assessment and AI-driven methodologies)
· Network frameworks (e.g., decentralized networks, direct current networks, sector integration)
We seek a highly skilled professional with a robust background in the aforementioned fields, grounded in fundamental research or demonstrable industrial experience, and notable visibility through research initiatives and global publications. Experience in a corporate setting (industrial projects or activities) is advantageous. Besides a pertinent academic qualification, substantial experience in independently securing research grants and leading a research team or equivalent industrial experience is anticipated. Active engagement in and initiation of collaborative research efforts within the department, at the university, and at the site is highly encouraged.
Teaching responsibilities encompass mandatory and elective courses in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, particularly focusing on the principles of electrical engineering and energy technology, energy production, distribution, and conservation, network design and management, as well as advanced subjects (e.g., automation and control techniques in energy technology). Given that some courses in the Bachelor's programs must be delivered in German, a willingness to undertake these after an initial orientation period is expected. Several years of experience and a distinct aptitude for academic instruction are essential. Relevant experience with interdisciplinary and international courses and innovative teaching methodologies is welcomed. Leading involvement in the ongoing enhancement of the educational curriculum in the field of energy technology and in academic governance is anticipated.
Candidate Profile:
Additional qualifications include a completed engineering degree, a doctoral degree, exceptional publication records, successful acquisition of external funding, and scholarly activity post-doctorate, evidenced by habilitation or equivalent achievements.
