Electrical Engineer for Complex Robot Systems

At the German Aerospace Center (DLR), we are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Institute of Robotics and Mechatronics in Oberpfaffenhofen. As a member of our Digital Electronics group, you will have the opportunity to develop and implement embedded systems for sensory acquisition and control of complex robot systems using the programming language Embedded C on microcontrollers and system on chips.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering and real-time communication, with experience in programming embedded systems and knowledge of circuit development. Additionally, knowledge of robotics, mechatronics, and control engineering is required. Experience with the EtherCAT fieldbus and system on chips is an advantage.
The job can be divided into the following subtasks:
- Conception and development of embedded systems for the sensory acquisition and control of complex robot systems using the programming language Embedded C on microcontrollers and system on chips
- New development of algorithms for the control of robotic joints with special consideration of the safety of the overall system of the overall system, e.g. in accordance with EN ISO10218
- Integration of the EtherCAT deterministic fieldbus into our control systems to enable real-time communication and control of the robot joints, as well as sensory detection of the overall system
- Design, analysis, optimization and troubleshooting of electronic systems and components
- New development of suitable measurement software for the commissioning of electronic components (programming languages: e.g. ANSI-C, Matlab)
- Selecting suitable measuring equipment and operating it for commissioning, analyzing and troubleshooting electronic components, taking into account the relevant standards
- Interdisciplinary cooperation with other scientists and engineers to continuously improve the reliability and performance of our robots.
