Job Summary

The Medical Officer will be responsible for managing, supporting, and equipping the team members of the Clinic on board Logos Hope. This includes running and maintaining the Clinic on a regular basis, providing medical care and treatment to crew, staff, and guests, and ensuring that crew medicals are conducted as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and support the team members of the Clinic, ensuring they have the necessary resources and equipment to perform their duties.
  • Run and maintain the Clinic on a regular basis, providing medical care and treatment to crew, staff, and guests on board Logos Hope.
  • Organize and coordinate the 24/7 emergency medical schedule, ensuring that medical services are available at all times.
  • Ensure that crew medicals are conducted as necessary, in accordance with Maritime standards and regulations.
  • Document patient records in the database system and Medical Treatment Log Book, and report any work-related injuries.
  • Advise and coordinate medical care or diagnostics on shore, and liaise with the onshore Medical Officer as needed.
  • Advise ship's personnel on disease prevention measures to be taken in any particular areas or ports.
  • Maintain and restock the Clinic's medications and supplies, and ensure that new medications or supplies are ordered when needed.
  • Ensure that medical equipment is functioning properly and arrange for servicing, repairing, or replacing as necessary.
  • Inform the Master of any unusual sicknesses or epidemics on board and request assistance if required.
  • Participate in emergency routine drills, including fire and Abandon Ship Drills, and fulfill specific duties as stated on the Muster List.

Requirements

  • Completed studies/education as a medical doctor.
  • A full valid license to practice medicine.
  • Work experience in a hospital or Doctor's practice.

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience in general medicine, surgery, and anesthetics.
  • Good communication and people skills.
  • Service focus and self-motivation.
  • Able to work independently and cope with stressful situations.
