Position Overview:
The Medical Officer on board Logos Hope plays a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of all personnel aboard. This position requires a dedicated individual who can manage medical operations effectively in a maritime environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support the Clinic Team Members, ensuring they are well-equipped to provide medical care.
- Operate and maintain the Clinic, delivering medical services to crew, staff, and guests.
- Organize and manage a 24/7 emergency medical schedule to address urgent health needs.
- Conduct necessary medical examinations for new crew members in compliance with maritime standards.
- Document patient records accurately in the medical database and maintain a Medical Treatment Log Book.
- Coordinate with onshore medical professionals for cases requiring external medical care.
- Advise ship personnel on disease prevention strategies relevant to specific ports of call.
- Maintain an adequate supply of medications and medical equipment, ensuring timely reordering when necessary.
- Monitor the functionality of medical equipment and arrange for servicing or repairs as needed.
- Report any unusual health incidents or outbreaks to the Master and seek assistance when required.
- Participate in emergency drills, including fire and evacuation procedures, fulfilling assigned duties as per the Muster List.
Essential Qualifications:
- Medical degree with completed studies and education.
- Valid medical practice license.
- Experience working in a hospital or medical practice setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in general medicine, surgery, and anesthetics is advantageous.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Service-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Capacity to handle high-pressure situations effectively.
