Job Summary
The Medical Officer will be responsible for managing, supporting, and equipping the Team Members of the Clinic on board Doulos Hope. This includes running and maintaining the Clinic on a regular basis, providing medical care and treatment to crew, staff, and guests, and ensuring that crew medicals are conducted as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support the Team Members of the Clinic, ensuring they have the necessary resources and equipment to perform their duties.
- Run and maintain the Clinic on a regular basis, including maintaining medical equipment and ordering supplies as needed.
- Provide medical care and treatment to crew, staff, and guests on board Doulos Hope, including coordinating emergency medical schedules and advising onshore medical officers when necessary.
- Ensure that crew medicals are conducted as necessary, in accordance with Maritime standards and regulations.
- Document patient records in the database system and Medical Treatment Log Book, and report any work-related injuries.
- Advise and coordinate with onshore medical officers when people require medical care or diagnostics, and liaise with the ship's personnel on disease prevention measures.
- Maintain and restock the Clinic's medications and supplies, and ensure that new medications or supplies are ordered when needed.
- Inform the Master of any unusual sicknesses or epidemics on board, and request assistance if required.
- Participate in emergency routine drills, including fire and Abandon Ship Drills, and fulfill specific duties as stated on the Muster List.
Requirements
- Completed studies/education as a medical doctor.
- A full valid license to practice.
- Work experience in a hospital or Doctor's practice.

- Experience in general medicine, surgery, and anesthetics.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Service focus and self-motivation.
- Able to cope with stressful situations.
