Business Development Director Opportunity

Discovery Life Sciences is a global leader in biospecimen solutions and laboratory services, offering a comprehensive range of products and services to support drug discovery and development. With a network of laboratories and offices across the United States and internationally, we are committed to advancing scientific research and improving healthcare outcomes.

We are seeking a talented and experienced Business Development Director to join our dynamic Preclinical sales team. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in developing and closing new and repeat business from customer and prospect accounts in an assigned territory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the ADME/Toxicology space
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and prospects to understand their scientific research needs and identify opportunities for Discovery Life Sciences to add value
  • Collaborate with scientific subject matter experts to develop sales strategies and secure contracts
  • Build and execute business development plans to drive growth in assigned territory
  • Meet with clients at biotech/pharmaceutical/diagnostics companies, CROs, and academic institutions to discuss product and research service needs
  • Pitch and present Discovery Life Sciences' Preclinical portfolio of products and services
  • Attend key conferences and local tradeshows to stay up-to-date on industry trends and network with potential clients
  • Coordinate large, strategic meetings between customer senior scientific leadership and Discovery Life Sciences leadership to win large-scale projects with substantial revenue potential
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in Discovery Life Sciences' core competencies to effectively discuss projects with R&D groups, business directors, legal departments, and purchasing managers
  • Present and evaluate client projects with Discovery Life Sciences' product management, project management, production, scientific leadership, 3rd party distribution partners, and internal and external collaborators
  • Manage an opportunity pipeline with updated next steps and feedback from customers
  • Consistently advance calls and win business by setting clear next steps and executing them
  • Report market intelligence back to the team by documenting sales calls and client feedback
Requirements
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of biotech-related sales experience required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of ADME-Tox-related sales experience preferred
  • Motivation to communicate directly with potential clients via email and phone
  • Ability to build and nurture relationships with clients and potential clients
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Docs
  • Must be fluent in English
