Legal Counsel Job Description

At KION Group, we are seeking a skilled legal expert to join our team as a Legal Counsel. This role will provide legal support to our company, focusing on corporate, commercial, and transactional matters.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Regional Legal Counsel Europe (EMEA), you will outline the structure of sales, project, product, and service contracts and general conditions.
  • You will sensitize and support the sales, purchase, and implementation teams relating to legal matters to ensure clear agreements with third parties.
  • As part of our team, you will assist in negotiating contracts and drafting commercial contracts with customers, suppliers, distribution contracts, and license agreements.
  • Additionally, you will support our Research and Development department in managing and optimizing Dematic's intellectual property and liaise with global responsibilities.
  • You will advise on licensing and patents and collaborate with external counsel when necessary.
  • Protecting intellectual property from third parties through confidentiality agreements, determining violations, and taking necessary actions.
  • Conciliation, arbitration, and litigation: providing strategic guidance to avoid potential legal dangers and reporting to global functions as needed.
  • You will be responsible for managing special files, including government relations, real estate transactions, transfer of ownership, acquisition, and merger files.
  • Selecting and maintaining contacts with external legal experts to build a strong network and collaborate with group internal functions and external services to manage industrial risks and insurance.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in the field and maintaining knowledge on new developments.

Requirements:

  • A Law degree (Master's level) with 3-5 years of experience as a legal counsel in an international corporate legal department or as an attorney in an international law firm.
  • Experience in Europe, handling a variety of corporate, commercial, transactional, and competition work, with a focus on drafting and negotiating international/cross-border agreements.
  • Confidence to act autonomously and take responsibility for counseling, negotiating, and resolving legal matters.
  • A self-starter and team player who can work independently and effectively in a team.
  • Excellent language skills, with fluency in English and German (additional languages are a plus).
  • A sense of ownership and drive, with a bias for action, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent networking skills, with the ability to build successful relationships at all levels within the organization.
