Position: Mass Properties Engineer

As a Mass Properties Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate assessment of mass-related characteristics for various aircraft models. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering essential mass-related information for aircraft projects.
  • Utilizing CATIA V5 to compute mass, volume, surface area, and center of gravity coordinates.
  • Extracting component dimensions from technical drawings to determine moments of inertia.
  • Evaluating modifications and enhancements based on installation and removal documentation, ensuring calculated component masses align with established targets.
  • Entering mass-related data into multiple databases for record-keeping and analysis.
  • Conducting studies on materials and components, as well as analyzing Requests for Approval (RFAs) and modifications.
  • Collaborating with system engineers to facilitate the creation of RFAs for aircraft projects.
  • Providing Mass Properties Support for aircraft as required and addressing mass-related inquiries from clients.
  • Preparing for and overseeing aircraft weighings on-site, ensuring compliance with standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautics or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in Mass Properties, aircraft design, statics, multidisciplinary optimization (MDO), or loads analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, drawing conventions, and Bill of Materials.
  • Strong proficiency in MS-Access, MS-Excel, MS-Office, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Word, and CATIA V5.
  • Experience with VPM and Teamcenter (Product Data Management System).
  • Fluency in both German and English is essential.
