Your Future Role
As a Layout Engineer at our international competence center for bogies, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of 800 colleagues who are responsible for the development, manufacturing, testing, and repair of bogies for global rail traffic, ensuring stability and comfort on the tracks. You will report to [HIRING MANAGER] and play a crucial role in supporting our operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
In the tender phase:
- Collaborate with the Industrial Manager and PME Manager to identify the potential footprint of the manufacturing process and assess its impact on existing and scheduled activities.
- Analyze the total cost of the layout, categorized into:
- Study (specification, design)
- Realization
During the pre-project phase:
- Conduct layout studies (pre-design).
- Draft the functional specification and obtain approval from Process & Manufacturing engineers, Tooling manager, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and EHS.
- Calculate the costs associated with the proposed solution.
In the project phase:
- Design (or subcontract) the detailed layout of the production line or workshop.
- Integrate all specific equipment, tooling, machines, and workstations in close collaboration with the tooling engineer.
- Coordinate floor marking with the Logistics and Manufacturing departments.
- Prepare technical specifications and ensure validation by relevant stakeholders.
- Submit documented purchase requests, participate in RFQ analysis, and contribute to the business award process with Sourcing.
- Oversee the installation of workstations and assembly lines in accordance with project timelines.
- Ensure compliance with EHS standards and ergonomic guidelines.
- Manage the reception of installations.
- Specify inspection operations, handling, and maintenance instructions.
About You
We prioritize passion and attitude over extensive experience. While we do not expect you to possess every skill, the following qualifications will enhance your success in this role:
- A background in Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, or Plant Maintenance with at least 5 years of experience, preferably in the railway sector.
- Technical expertise in Process & Manufacturing Engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD and PLM tools (e.g., CATIA, DELMIA).
- Familiarity with Quality, EHS standards, and Ergonomics.
- Knowledge of IS common tools.
- Experience with Process FMEA and QRQC.
- Technical education in Mechanics or Automation.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
