We are seeking a highly skilled US Gas & Power Analyst to join our Trading Analysis & Algorithms department in Hamburg. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing market insights, analysis, and commercial decision support across all commodity areas.
Your Main Responsibilities- Conduct in-depth analysis of the US natural gas and power markets, identifying key drivers and regime shifts to inform trading decisions.
- Develop and maintain proprietary trading strategies for the US natural gas and power markets, working closely with traders and other analysts.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest market developments, policy changes, and regulatory updates, providing timely and accurate analysis to support trading activities.
- Collaborate with other trading analysts and supporting functions to develop and implement business-driven models and policy analysis.
- Lead and mentor junior analysts and working students, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in the role.
- Contribute to the commercial success of BU Trading, working closely with the trading desks and other departments to achieve business objectives.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong academic background and a proven track record in US natural gas and power markets analysis. Your skills and qualifications should include:
- Strong academic background with a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as business, economics, engineering, mathematics, or physics.
- 3+ years' experience in US natural gas and power markets analysis in a commercial or trading environment, with a proven track record of success.
- Experience with fundamental and quantitative models for the US natural gas and power markets, and ability to steer business-driven model development and policy analysis.
- Additional experience in LNG markets or with algorithmic trading strategies is advantageous.
- Good statistical, analytical, and programming skills, ideally in Python.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are advantageous but not required.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various internal stakeholders.
- Result-oriented, independent working method with high reliability, self-motivation, and readiness to take on responsibility.
- Proactive team player with a willingness to learn and contribute to the team's success.
