Our Business Area Markets plays a crucial role in maximizing the value of our overall portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall's sales and generation volumes. We serve as Vattenfall's single access to energy commodity markets and trade electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled US Gas & Power Analyst to join our Trading Analysis & Algorithms department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting commercially relevant fundamental and quantitative analysis to support traders and develop proprietary trading strategies for the US natural gas and power markets.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Conducting in-depth analysis of the US natural gas and power markets, identifying key drivers and regime shifts, and developing price views and sensitivity analyses
- Developing and maintaining fundamental and statistical markets models, and collaborating with other trading analysts and supporting functions on business-driven model development and policy analysis
- Providing market insights and commercial decision support to traders, and communicating complex information through various channels
- Leading and mentoring junior analysts and working students, and contributing to the development of the Trading Analysis & Algorithms department
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A strong academic background in a relevant field, such as business, economics, engineering, mathematics, or physics
- At least 3 years of experience in US natural gas and power markets analysis in a commercial or trading environment
- Experience with fundamental and quantitative models for the US natural gas and power markets, and ability to steer business-driven model development and policy analysis
- Strong analytical, statistical, and programming skills, with proficiency in Python
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various stakeholders
