Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in a correctional setting. As a LPN, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based nursing care to patients in a correctional setting
  • Screen patients for sick call and administer medications as needed
  • Provide first aid and basic life support to patients and staff
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
  • Communicate effectively with security and treatment staff to ensure seamless care
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain competence in correctional nursing

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license or multi-state compact license
  • Ability to screen complaints of physical ailments and refer necessary cases to other medical professionals
  • Experience in carrying out provider's orders in applying treatments
  • Competent first aid skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment
  • Experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care
