Field Service Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team at Thorlabs. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for installing new imaging systems, performing warranty-related service at customer sites, and improving internal and external service reporting.
Key Responsibilities- Install new imaging systems and ensure they are functioning correctly.
- Perform warranty-related service at customer sites, including troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
- Improve internal and external service reporting to ensure timely and accurate communication with customers.
- Execute Preventive Maintenance program for existing customers to minimize downtime and optimize equipment performance.
- Promote service contracts to customers to ensure ongoing support and maintenance.
- Document field service activities to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
- Improve customer response time by prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively.
- Assist system installation and evaluation for tradeshows to showcase our products and services.
- Minimum 5 years hands-on experience aligning, maintaining, and servicing optical equipment, including lasers and microscopes.
- Prior field service and customer relationship experience in the life science/photonics industry.
- Degree in Engineering/Photonics related Technology, EE, Biomedical Science, Physics, or equivalent.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills to effectively interact with customers and colleagues.
- Understanding of customer/marketplace and drivers that influence customer behavior.
- Strong problem-solving/analysis skills related to field service to resolve complex issues.
- Must be willing to travel 75% of the time to visit customer sites and attend tradeshows.
