Industrial Engineer – Plant Infrastructure & Utilities (m/f/x)

We are seeking a qualified Industrial Engineer – Plant Infrastructure & Utilities (m/f/x) who is passionate about combating climate change and minimizing CO2 emissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the engineering and design of plant utility systems, including electricity, heating, compressed air, process gas supply, and sanitary systems, managed by an external plant engineering firm.
  • Acting as the internal authority for plant utility systems throughout the engineering and construction phases.
  • Ensuring that the technical concepts and deliverables for plant utilities meet quality and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards (e.g., specifications, data sheets, drawings, functional descriptions) during engineering and construction.
  • Preparing purchase order requests for plant utility systems and coordinating the execution of these orders with suppliers.
  • Assisting the Plant Construction and Permitting Specialist in managing the external plant engineering firm within your area of expertise.
  • Participating in plant design and construction reviews alongside the plant engineering firm and subcontractors.
  • Conducting field engineering during construction and evaluating the installation of plant utility systems.
  • Occasionally traveling to engage with construction and permitting partners or authorities.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, construction, or facility management.
  • A degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
  • Experience in the chemical industry, particularly with hazardous gases and liquids.
  • A foundational understanding of relevant European or German regulations and standards for plant utility systems.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively in an international team. Proficiency in English is essential, while German language skills are a significant advantage.
  • Strong technical report writing capabilities.
  • A willingness to learn and develop new competencies.
  • The ability to identify potential permitting, construction, or operational challenges and actively contribute to their resolution.
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and tools related to building utility systems, preferably in powder- and gas-processing chemical plants.
  • A basic ability to assess the accuracy of plant engineering and construction activities.
